Fractions
Hi readers! Today I had this problem in maths that I had to solve and we had to do it by making a flower out of paper. At first I thought it would be easy but as it progressed I soon found that it was harder than it looks. Below I have added the flower I made and my answer to the problem: what fraction is the triangle in the middle?
The answer is 1/4 of the square because if you unfold it it has the width of 1/4.
Here is my flower. Comment below if you disagree with my answer.

Nadia Comaneci
Hi readers
Today we read more about the Olympics. We read about summer Olympic champions. Then we could choose ether Nadia or Abebe to make a athlete profile about them.
I chose Nadia because I like gymnastics and I was amazed from what the book said about her.
I think I did well because I added lots of information about her and I did lots of research.
I could make it better by adding more detail and maybe add the date she was born and her family.
If you think I could add more or missed something comment below!

Taste Test
In reading we did a taste test. Here are my results:
Coffee- bitter-bad
Lemon-sour-bad
Honey-sweet-good
Ham-umami-good
Chips-salty-good
How taste buds work: when food touches your tongue the taste buds pick up the flavour and tells you what to taste but the reason that everyone has different liking is because of the way that they read the flavour.

My best friend is Sophia Tompson.
She has straight shoulder length blonde hair, little brown freckles and piercing blue eyes.
Sophia T loves nature, cats and dragons. She has a little brother called william who loves cars. She is so funny!

Poākai The Glutton
Mt Torlesse was the tallest Mountain in the Canterbury plains and on the peak was the nest of poākai, a giant bird he could see for miles and like all the others he craved the flesh of man.
In the pā down below Mt Torlesse the people were trouble hunters that were going out to collect food didn’t come back and the people began to starve.
Luckily a man called Ruru had a plan but it would be risking his life and the lives of the forty others that agreed. So when night fell they left the pā and started building a giant cage though they only could work at night the cage was soon finished.
Before dawn Ruru crept out and stood in clear sight of the nest when he saw poākai swooping down towards him he ran he ran for his life and he just made it as poākai landed on top of the cage furious that he couldn’t catch his prey he stuck his leg into the cage and killed some men before they hacked off his leg enraged he stuck his other leg but they hacked it off to then he stuck his wing in and they hacked it off then did the same with his other wing then Ruru rushed out and clubbed the helpless bird to death.
Ruru and the others decided that they must locate the nest and destroy any little ones in the nest so they hiked up the mountain and brutally murdered his little ones.

The Creation Of Te Waipounamu
Rangi the sky father married Pokoharua-te-Po and had four sons called Araki,Rakiroa,Rakirua and Rarakiroa however Pokoharua-te-Po was heartbroken when Raki fell in love with Papatuanuku the earth mother. But before Rangi could descend from the heavens to come together with his second wife his children decided to have a better look at her.
Araki and his brothers sailed down in their magnificent waka called Te Waka O Aoraki down to earth and circled round Papatuanuku and they were not very `enthusiastic when they saw her but they enthusiastic about finding more land.
They sailed south and saw nothing then a huge storm erupted out of nowhere luckily they new a karakia that would lift the waka back up to the heavens. But they said the karakia wrong and the waka began to sink the terrified brothers clambered onto the west side of the upturned waka and huddled together and their hair turned white and they turned to stone and became the southern alps and the waka turned into the south island.

all about eels
We went to lake Ellesmere and a man called Clem Smith showed us some eels. They live in lakes and rivers. Mr Smith told us that they mix the lake water with the sea water and let the eels get used to the water because they will make a long journey.
When the time is right the adult eels will swim out to the ocean but the sandy border is in the way so they climb across it ( Fun fact! If eels are wet they can breath out of water!) When they crash into each other on the sand they form a wheel and roll to sea. After days of swimming they get to the warm waters near Hawaii the male eel raps himself around the female and they shed their eggs and then they die
The eggs bob on the current and hatch into larvae the larvae slowly makes their way back by the time they get to lake Ellesmere they have transformed into a transparent eel called a glass eel. They can stay at the lake for as long as possible then they make that same journey.

wear helmets
I think that wearing helmets should be compulsory in NZ
I think that wearing helmets should be compulsory in NZ because a lot of children and not just children get hurt by not wearing helmets.
Firstly you could fall off and hit your head, you could get a split head and nobody wants to go to hospital do they? (answer no)
Secondly you might not be very experienced at riding a scooter. For example you could run over or fall onto stones you will just get a graze but if it hits your head you could get hurt badly.
Finally helmets are made to protect so if you fall your head will be protected and FYI your head holds your brain and you kind of need that.
So in conclusion wearing helmets should be compulsory in NZ.
